Our team is highly trained to provide the best possible care for your pet. Our priority continues to be keeping our team members safe so they can continue to care for our patients. Even one sick employee significantly impacts our ability to do that. With this in mind we would like to share with you some of the factors that go into our plans in regards to re-opening our practice.
– Our building is full of caring doctors and staff with all the equipment needed to provide excellent care for our patients. As we operate now, we are able to help as many patients now as we were prior to the pandemic.
– Adding clients in the building will drastically change our capacity to provide care to the number of patients needed on a daily basis. It will likely lengthen wait times and push our appointments out even further.
– When handling our patients, our team members often need to work closely together in small enclosed spaces.
– We have limited ventilation in our exam rooms and are unable to maintain safe distancing throughout most of the building – particularly in our exam rooms.
– A number of our staff have family, at home, who currently are unable to be vaccinated.
With emerging COVID variants, we feel a responsibility to do what we can to mitigate the risk for our staff and their families.
– As far as interactions with clients, we have no way of knowing who is vaccinated and who is not and the burden of policing vaccine status and client masking is not something we are willing to put on our staff when they are so needed to care for patients.
While we are all anxious to reopen our building, we have chosen to remain conservative in making any changes. For the time being, we have decided it is best for us to continue to remain curbside and request that all clients wear masks when interacting with our staff.
So many of our clients have been wonderful throughout this pandemic. We respectfully ask you to be mindful that our team is both mentally and emotionally exhausted from this last year. We would prefer to spend our energy focusing on the care of our patients as opposed to debating this policy. As we receive more information we will continue to make the appropriate adjustments.
Many days we have a staff member stationed under our blue tent to help you check in, check out, and pick up medications, food, or other products.
– If we do not have a staff member at the tent, please text our cell phone at 207-570-6192 upon your arrival. Let us know your pet’s name and the color, make, and model of your car. If you have texted and not received a response within 5 minutes, please call our normal phone line: 207-947-6783.
– If you do not have the ability to text please call our normal phone line 207-947-6783.
– If you do not have a phone with you, please knock on the front door and a member of our team will assist you as soon as they are able.
– Throughout this pandemic, we have partnered with our IT support to increase the number of flexible workstations for our staff and enhance our guest wi-fi range as best as we can. We have the wifi guest login posted outside. We invite you to login during your visit and get some work done (or not…we think it’s a perfect excuse to get up to date on the best cat videos or your favorite binge worthy shows!)
Once you have been checked in, in most cases, we will call you back to gather information on your pet prior to having you remove your pet from the vehicle.
– When our staff arrives at your vehicle, please remove your pet from the vehicle – keep dogs leashed and cats in carriers.
– Our staff will then use two slip leads to safely escort your dog into the building.
Once your pet has been examined and any needed diagnostics are complete, we will either call you to discuss the exam and diagnostic findings or come outside to discuss with you. We certainly miss our face-to-face interactions and try to meet outside with our clients in person as much as possible. Our staff will continue to remain masked when interacting with clients.
Please continue to call in prescription requests 24 hours in advance of pickup. When possible, we welcome prepayment at the time you place your order. When picking up food and prescriptions please speak with the staff member under the tent. If we do not have a staff member stationed under the tent, please stay in your car and text 207-570-6192 or call the front desk 207-947-6783 to let us know you are here. If you have not already paid in advance, the client service representative will take payment over the phone and then deliver your food and/or prescriptions to you.
Thank you for your understanding!
